Care & Maintenance

A quiet object for creating atmosphere.

Part incense holder, part storage box, this cast iron incense box is designed to bring a sense of stillness and intention to everyday spaces. Lift the walnut lid, select a stick of incense, and let the moment unfold slowly.

Crafted in Yamagata, Japan from cast iron and walnut wood, the piece balances weight and warmth in equal measure. The softly textured iron surface is finished to preserve the natural beauty of the casting, while the walnut lid introduces an organic contrast that ages gracefully over time.

At the center of the lid, traditional Genji-ko incense symbols inspired by The Tale of Genji are delicately engraved — a subtle reference to Japan’s long-standing culture of appreciating fragrance as a meditative art.

Designed not only to hold incense, but to shape the atmosphere around it."
